We are currently seeking a Lead Host/Hostess to join our team of professionals who have created the liveliest bar scene in Denver, as recently voted by Open Table diners.
Our Lead Host/Hostess will provide leadership to the Host Team to maintain an efficient and courteous restaurant operation by greeting arriving customers, seating guests, establishing rapport and assisting with restaurant service.
Meets arriving customers as they enter restaurant with cordial greeting. Escorts to assigned tables, issues menus and solicits rapport in order to accommodate special needs or requests.
Assigns sections and notifies servers of new seats in their section to ensure the customers receive immediate and proper attention.
Maintains a highly visible appearance in restaurant during entire shift by remaining at the cashier/host station and periodically circulating through the restaurant in order to assist servers, to respond to any customer requests and to assess the efficiency of the operation for management.
Maintains Host Book and updates it with weekly and new information to include' promotional/marketing materials, gift cards, city calendar of events, schedules, line up sheets, and daily checklist.
Leads shifts to endure proper greeting and seating procedures are taking place as well as updating the host team on what needs to be done and ensures that menu counts and bathroom checks are taking place consistently.
Quotes accurate wait times, manage seating flow, and communicate special requests to servers and kitchen.
Completes and assists management with the delegation of host/hostess duties and ensures that all items on the checklist have been completed throughout each shift.
Confirms weekend reservations and communicates reservation policies.
Completes data entry on a monthly basis in Open Table.
Counts all restaurant menus on a weekly basis to ensure proper numbers are being maintained and communicates ordering needs to management.
Solicits feedback from departing customers on products and services in order to improve the operation to increase customer base and maximize revenues. Takes written notes in order to report comments to management.
Maintains a clean and attractive restaurant by assisting with vacuuming, sweeping, general cleaning and sidework duties. Checks the proper set-up of tables and seating prior to opening. Immediately reports in writing any maintenance or housekeeping discrepancies to management.
Exhibits a professional appearance and maintains a friendly, cheerful and courteous demeanor at all times.
Trains new hires on Host/Hostess job responsibilities to ensure all associates maintain a consistent level of service to
guests and team members.
Assists servers and bus persons by taking orders, serving food, accommodating customers dining requests and clearing and cleaning tables, resetting tables, and retrieving supplies as needed.
Provides assistance to other employees and departments in order to contribute to the best overall performance of the department and hotel.
Directs 1-2 people per shift and provides leadership and training.
Completes other job duties as assigned by management.
Must have high school graduate level mathematical aptitude; know standard cash handling procedures and knowledge of computerized cash register/POS systems.
Must have general knowledge of basic customer service skills, restaurant operations, and food service principles. Must be fluent in oral and written English.
Open table experience required.
Must have vision ability to read written communiqués, computer screens and print-outs, see colors and to survey entire room in dimly lit conditions.
Must have hand and finger dexterity to handle coins and writing utensils, grasp handles, push buttons and carry dishes.
Must have upper body strength to lift and carry trays and bus tubs weighing up to 10lbs.
Must be able to stand throughout entire shift and to lift arms above head to retrieve objects from shelves.
Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing, follow written and verbal instruction, and work on more than one task at a time.
Must be able to use tact and understanding when dealing with a variety of customer service problems, including stressful and highly emotional situations.
High School diploma or equivalent
1 year or more experience as a Host/Hostess or Restaurant Server.
