As a member of Food Services management staff, Sous Chef works in conjunction with the Executive Chef. Assumes supervisory responsibilities of the Executive Chef in his/her absence. Assists the Executive Chef in training and development of other staff. Assists with catering of VIP Functions and staff dining when necessary. Responsible for the preparation of foods for patient's breakfast and noon time meals according to department standards. Responsible for maintaining high standards of quality food production, sanitation, and portion control using standardized recipes. Responsible for using appropriate quantities of food needed to meet menu requirements. Utilizes pre-preparation and batch cooking techniques. Demonstrates an understanding of, and embraces, the mission statement of Christian Health Care Center.
High school diploma or equivalent. Culinary arts degree required.
Three to five years experience preparing meals in a supervisory role.
Must be able to cook a variety of foods in large quantities ensuring optimal quality at point of service. Must be able to follow recipes. Must maintain care and use of supplies and equipment. Follows all industry and regulatory agency procedures and requirements.
