Waitress Jobs
A waitress is an important member of the entire restaurant team. Waitresses work as a team to take orders, set, serve, and clear tables and deal with the exchange of bills and money.
Since waitresses have the most contact with customers during their dining experience, it is essential that they be polite and courteous while welcoming customers into the dining room, during the service of the meal, and also when the customers leave by remembering always to thank them. Any queries or question asked by a customer, which the concerned waitress cannot answer, get passed on to a supervisor.
The usual tasks performed by a waitress are: checking patrons' identification in order to ensure that they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages; checking with customers to ensure that they are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems; escorting customers to their tables; explaining how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients, and cooking methods; informing customers of daily specials; preparing checks that itemize and total meal costs and sales taxes; presenting menus to patrons and answering questions about menu items, making recommendations upon request; remove dishes and glasses from tables or counters and taking them to kitchen for cleaning; serving food and/or beverages to patrons; preparing and serving specialty dishes at tables as required; and stocking service areas with supplies such as coffee, food, tableware, and linens.
Whatever the task, it is essential that waitresses always work as a team.
