Director Of Catering Jobs description

A director of catering is responsible for an operational catering staff, as well as for the sales efforts of said catering staff. The director of catering directs and manages all catering department functions including catering sales, executive meetings, and department administration. Along with directing such daily activities, the director of catering has to oversee the performance of the executive meeting services and catering management teams, which includes conducting annual performance evaluations. The director of catering is also expected to prepare the catering department budget and revenue forecasts, develop annual business plans, and plan and execute complex group events. Other responsibilities of the catering director include the following: ensuring that client specifications and contractual obligations are communicated to the appropriate operational departments; overseeing the banquet event order (BEO) distribution process; and developing sales promotions.

A bachelor\'s degree in hospitality management along with a minimum four years of catering operation management experience is required for director of catering jobs. Excellent communication and project management skills and the ability to be proactive in terms of marketing and increasing sales are other qualities that are critical to a successful director of catering.
