Director Of Hotel Jobs description

A director of hotel is responsible for the everyday management of a hotel and its staff and has commercial accountability for planning, organizing, and directing all hotel services to achieve the highest quality in standards and services. In addition to this, a director of hotel acts as the main liaison between the client and hotel staff.

Directors of hotels ideally have the following qualifications: the ability to manage in a diverse environment with focus on client and customer services, entrepreneurship, and building and growing a strong business; the ability to communicate effectively with clients, senior management, and support staff; and the ability to respond effectively to changing demands.

While taking a strategic overview and planning ahead to maximise profits, the director of hotel also pays attention to the details by setting the example for staff to deliver a standard of service and presentation that meets guests' needs and expectations. Here, the individual demonstrates excellent business and people management skills.

Typical work activities of a director of hotel may include: promoting and marketing the business; managing budgets and financial plans and controlling expenditure; setting and achieving sales and profit targets; recruiting, training and monitoring staff; dealing with customer complaints and comments; addressing problems and troubleshooting; ensuring events and conferences run smoothly; supervising maintenance, supplies, renovations, and furnishings; dealing with contractors and suppliers; ensuring effective security; carrying out inspections of property and services; and ensuring compliance with licensing laws, health and safety, and other statutory regulations.
