Hotel Manager Jobs description
Hotel managers provide overall leadership, guidance, and direction to the hotel management team and thereby ensure that the highest quality in standards and services are met. In addition to this, a hotel manager also acts as the main liaison between the client and hotel staff. He/she also ensures that hotel and client financial obligations are met.Hotel managers come honed with the following special qualifications: the ability to manage in a diverse environment with focus on client and customer services, entrepreneurship, and building and growing a strong business; the ability to communicate effectively with clients, senior management, and support staff; and the ability to respond effectively in a change-induced dynamic environment.
Employers on the lookout for the ideal hotel manager usually prefer candidates who come with the following experience: a minimum of four year's experience in hotel or hospitality industry; premise and liability accountability; and contract-managed service experience. The ideal hotel manager candidate will also possess a bachelor's degree in institutions' management, hospitality services, foods and nutrition, business administration, or other related field.
Core competencies that are required throughout the career of a hotel manager are: communication, fiscal management, management, and planning.
