Kitchen Manager Jobs description

Kitchen managers exercise and perform a supervisory role in the kitchens of big hotels, restaurants, and other popular eateries. They have an extensive list of duties and responsibilities that they perform by utilising their superior leadership, managerial, and communication skills.

Kitchen managers are responsible for: all aspects of meal preparation, clean-up, and general upkeep of the kitchen and dining hall; ordering all food and supplies and adhering to an approved expense budget; maintaining accurate inventory of all kitchen supplies; performing written evaluations of all staff working in the kitchen; and knowing and adhering to the policies and procedures contained within the operational manual.

A kitchen manager will: directly supervise the cooks and the assistant cooks or dishwashers; develop a session-by-session menu; maintain accurate records of all foods purchased and/or stored in a method to maintain good standards with the Department of Health; maintain good relationships with vendors and outside community; and attend and give updates at weekly staff meeting.

In most cases, kitchen managers report directly to the Director of Operations. Whenever there is any act of maltreatment, neglect, and/or any other violation of policies on the part of any team member, the kitchen managers will immediately report it to the Director of Operations.
