A restaurant deputy manager assists the General Manager in running a restaurant or a chain of restaurants. Ideally, candidates with prior experience in a senior Assistant role or an existing deputy manager looking for a new challenge are preferred.

Restaurant deputy managers are food focused and have experience in a high volume unit, with high service standards and great attention to detail. An ideal restaurant deputy manager will be confident, well presented, and thrive on working in a busy wet and food led operation. Candidates should be dynamic and driven, good team players, outgoing, image conscious, and should love interacting with staff and customers to ensure that a high service and a fantastic ambience is delivered at all times.

Restaurant deputy managers are required to have good financial acumen and feel confident dealing with revenue on a daily and weekly basis. They should be business focused and willing to bring new ideas to management meetings in order to push the business forward.

Restaurant deputy managers lead others in a busy, demanding environment. They assist the General Manager from training and recruitment right through to budgeting and marketing. They could be out on the floor, making sure the customers are happy or, sorting out a complex order for a party of thirty. Since the pace is extremely fast, a restaurant deputy manager will need to work hard to keep his/her team members motivated and hitting their targets.
